Mercatus Center project rates states on freedom

The Mercatus Center at Mason has released the results of the Freedom in 50 States project, a study aimed to show how states match up to each other in terms of freedom.

The Mercatus Center, located in Arlington, conducts research on political and economic issues.

The Freedom in 50 States project was conducted and authored by William Ruger and Jason Sorens and ranks states based on different aspects of freedom.

Mercatus Center receives $1 million donation

George Mason University’s Mercatus Center has received a generous donation in the spirit of capitalism and the American Dream.

The donation of  $ 1 million, made in December 2012 by former Virginia resident Nelson Getchell, will support the center’s research on free markets and capitalism

A native of Massachusetts, Getchell has lived a rich and varied life.

Economics society hosts talk on how our modern world was shaped

In front of a large crowd, the George Mason University Economics Society, in collaboration with the Mercatus Center, hosted a talk by Professor Deirdre McCloskey at the Johnson Center Cinema on Wednesday.
