Producers and writers of the Daily Show come to Mason

The producers and writers of the popular comedy program "The Daily Show" will be this year's featured act for George Mason University's annual Family Weekend.

“The Daily Show Live: Indecision Tour 2012” will be at the Center for Arts Concert Hall during Family Weekend on Saturday, October 13 at 8 p.m. “It is a night of laughter and fun,” said Michelle Davis, the assistant director for Programming within the Office of Student Involvement.

Since Jon Stewart will not be here, the Indecision Tour 2012 will have the unique opportunity of allowing those who are more behind the scenes to have the spotlight. Featuring performances by "Daily Show" regulars such as John Hodgman, Al Madrigal, and Adam Lowitt, the event is looking to be a success.

When choosing a comedic act, Program Board always looks to pick an act that will be funny for everyone. “The Daily Show Live” will be the perfect fit for those who will have their parents along for the event. “I promise you, you’ll laugh,” Davis said.

When selecting a comedian for Family Weekend, OSI looks for comedians that both students and parents can enjoy. “You have to feel somewhat comfortable sitting next to your mother or father,” said Davis.

The show will focus on the upcoming presidential election with the typical “Daily Show” comedic style. Although the "Daily Show Live" does tend to be more liberal, they are comedians so they will tell a joke about anything or anyone as long as it is funny.

“Any time you go to a comedy show you’re gonna laugh, especially when they’re at this caliber,” said Davis.

The Office of Family Programs and Services, which sponsors Family Weekend, along with OSI is hoping this year’s comedic act will be a hit with both parents and students.

Tickets can still be purchased at the Office of Student Involvement or at The Center for the Arts. Tickets are being sold at $15 for students and $20 for family, faculty and staff.
