"Strange Wilderness" Lost in the Park

By Connect Mason Reviewer Emily Culley.

In concept, the story idea has a nice structure: a screw-up son trying to save his father’s, who had recently died, beloved television program—“Strange Wilderness.” The network is about to cancel the show, unless Peter Gaulke can save it in two weeks. So here’s the plan: The crew is going to go on a trek to find Big Foot, shoot a few shots and save the nature show.

Many members of the cast have come from enjoyable movies or television shows; featuring Jonah Hill from Superbad, Steven Zahn from Shattered Glass, Blake Clark from Boy Meets World, and Justin Long from the Mac vs. PC Commercials. However, few—if any—actor would have been able to save this movie from its own plot holes and terrible comedic timing.

The movie spends about an hour building up crude unreal situation after another, before reaching Big Foot and resolving itself in a matter of seconds, leaving the audience stunned, annoyed, and confused. Not much else can be said about this movie, except that every time the actors are presented with a problem and are in need of a situation they screw up drastically—yet are saved by Gaulke’s connections with his father.

In short; this movie was terrible. It’s simply an overflow of mindless crude humor, with no substance and little direction within the plot.
