Students flocked the Patriot Center Box Office Thursday to purchase tickets to see Lupe Fiasco perform at the Patriot Center next month. Tickets went on sale at 10 a.m. and hundreds were sold within hours.

Michelle Davis, assistant director of student involvement for programming, said that by late afternoon on Thursday, April 12, the day tickets went on sale, “a couple hundred” tickets had already been sold.

Lupe Fiasco will be performing at the Patriot Center with opening act King Louis, on Thursday, May 3 at 8 p.m. This will be his first time performing at Mason.

The Office of Student Involvement and University Life organized the event after surveying students, asking which artists they would like to see perform at Mason. Lupe Fiasco was chosen as a result of that inquiry.

“Last summer I conducted a completely random entry survey where students could just write in any artist they would like to see,” Davis said. “Lupe was actually in the top 10 [from] that list and he was attainable.”

Lupe Fiasco’s album, “Lasers,” received three Grammy nominations and features hit singles such as “The Show Goes On” and “Never Forget You,” featuring John Legend.

Students are able to purchase tickets at a discounted price with their Mason ID card. Prices for the general public range from $35 to $45 while student prices range from $15 to $25. Students can purchase up to two tickets at the discounted price with their Mason ID. General public can order their tickets from the TicketMaster website.
