University closes for inclement weather

All campuses of George Mason University have canceled classes for Wednesday evening, starting at 4:30 p.m.

Administrative offices also closed.

The university first released the news through its Facebook page. A Mason Alert was sent out about an hour later at 3:46 p.m.

  • Dining: The following locations are open for normal operating hours: Ike's, Starbucks, and the One-Stop Patriot Shop.

    Dining is constantly reassessing, according to Denise Ammaccapane, head of Mason Dining.

  • Transportation: Shuttle service will stop at 6 p.m. Detailed info on individual services can be found here.
     
  • Parking: The overnight restriction in Rappahannock River Deck for the general areas is waived for Wednesday and Thursday nights, according to an e-mail from Mason Parking. Parking on level 3 is still restricted to faculty and staff.
     
  • Facilities: Student Union Building I, Student Union Building II and the Johnson Center will remain open until normal closing times, according to an e-mail sent to Student Center employees.
     
  • Bookstore: Still need to buy textbooks? You're in luck. The JC bookstore will remain open until 8 p.m., according to a humorous tweet from it's Twitter account.
     
  • Basketball: The Men's Basketball game versus Towson has been postponed until Thursday, Jan. 27 at 4 p.m. due to safety concerns for the traveling Towson team. 

    Admission to tomorrow's game is free. Free video and radio will additionally be provided through GoMason.com.
