The Washington Wizards will be hosting their annual training camp at the Patriot Center on the Fairfax campus of George Mason University from Saturday, Sept. 28 to Wednesday, Oct. 2. The training camp will consist of two-a-day practices from 11 to 2 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. daily.

Coming off of a 29-53 record last season, the Wizards will head into training camp with 15 players under guaranteed contracts. A quick look at the roster shows backup forward Chris Singleton out 6-8 weeks with a foot injury, and starting center Emeka Okafor out indefinitely after being diagnosed with a herniated cervical disc. The Wizards will turn to Kevin Seraphin, Trevor Booker and Jan Vesely to fill the void. Nene Hilario is listed as day-to-day with a knee injury, but is expected to be good to go for the first day of training camp.

With starters John Wall and Bradley Beal both returning healthy this season, 6’6” swingman Garrett Temple will be competing for minutes and does not have a guaranteed spot in the rotation. The team signed former VCU Ram Eric Maynor, set to serve as Wall’s primary backup, drafted Otto Porter and Glen Rice Jr. and signed Al Harrington to improve the perimeter. Martell Webster and Trevor Ariza should see some serious time in the back court.

Josh Childress, drafted sixth in the 2004 NBA Draft, has accepted a training camp invite from the Washington Wizards and will be in attendance along with Pops Mensah-Bonsu, Xavier Silas and D’or Fischer.

Practices are closed to the general public.
