SAVE GUNSTON!
This new look for Gunston is horrible! Most of my friends LOVE him the way he was. They should have dressed him up like a patriot and that would have been fine new mascot.

I mean the video is cute but sometimes I just want a still photo to show someone else what the new Gunston looks like. Thank god for The Mason Gazzette :)

Extra irony, Gunston is apparently one of the few GMU graduates who can get a job at the university he graduated from. :P
Where's the loyalty?
Gunston was with our school when we won the 2006 NCAA Championship game and made it to the Final Four and has always been on the sidelines cheering on the team and bringing smiles to the fans and students of GMU...Gunston is Irreplaceable and Luvable....he has brought this campus together and united and sparked school spirit like it has never been seen before...when students go to the games they look forward to seeing Gunston...changing mascots now makes our school look lame...you don't see other Universities dumping their mascots..I guarantee that if they do come up with a stuffy old patriot mascot fans will be disappointed and attendance at games will dramatically drop...Why change now when you have a good thing going??????? U can't improve on perfection and Gunston is perfect just like he is and should stay right where he is along side the basketball team!!! Send the new ugly patriot mascot out into the community and leave Gunston be just as he's been at the games!!!

I don't know anyone
I don't know anyone who likes Gunston. I have never seen people get excited when they see him at games... I've seen people terrified of him but never excited. Gunston was a horrible excuse of a mascot and I'm glad that they have finally gotten rid of him. If we got a "stuffy old patriot mascot" it would only be for the better...since we are the patriots. Oh but no you're right a big green blob really represents a patriot very well. I don't think that the mascot will influence attendance whatsoever, winning or losing games is what's going to influence attendance.

The video was amusing, but yeah I have to agree the new look is not a good look.
What will the new mascot be? I can't help but wonder if it isn't all a prank and that in reality there is no new mascot, its just a joke.

That's about the worst they could have possibly made Gunston look. It makes me apprehensive about the new mascot if that's their idea of a good one :(

Omg!
This is an adorable video- kudos for Merten participating in it- but what on EARTH did they do to Gunston? It's like he got flattened out, his eyes got plastic surgery to make them ugly, a Mason spirit tattoo on his face and shaved like a dog.
Poor Gunston- he used to be so Cute! This thing is just....ugh. Why couldn't they have just kept him the way he was for his "community relations" job?
I'm really dreading to see what the actual new mascot looks like.
