We Hear That...
On Tuesday, Apple is holding a press conference to make a super secret announcement that nobody in the press world knows anything about. Though some speculate that the announcement could have to do with yet another iPod upgrade or an iTunes subscription service, nobody knows for sure. We’re hoping for the latter.
A large list of popular musicians are lining up to create tunes for the new Guitar Hero World Tour video game including some staple artists of ‘90s alternative. Included on the new game are MC5’s Wayne Kramer, Motorhead, The Sex Pistols, Jerry Cantrell of Alice and Chains, Gilby Clark formerly of Guns ‘N’ Roses, the Smashing Pumpkins, Sting and Tool. They’re even making Smashing Pumpkins’ singer and lead guitarist Billy Corgan into a character for the video game. Viva la alternative music era!
On Sunday, tickets go on sale for West Side Story, the landmark American musical. Though the show doesn’t debut until December 15, we have a feeling you’ll want to nab tickets A.S.A.P. After all, who wouldn’t want to see all the action between the Jets and the Sharks played out on stage live?
MtvU recently launched the first ever series of online, local resources for individual colleges, featuring an on-campus events calendar and a list of local hot spots. Currently, there are only 25 guides online, and we’re bitter that George Mason University isn’t one of them. For the D.C. area, George Washington was chosen to be the first college featured, but we’re hoping Mason was a close second and that our guide will be up and running soon.
Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester’s mother, a former drug-dealer, is planning on banking off of her daughter’s success and following in the steps of Lynn Spears by releasing a memoir. Included in the book, will be details on Leighton’s birth from behind bars. Looks like the star’s life isn’t as shiny as her Gossip Girl counterpart Blair Waldorf.
