Students raise $1,400 for cancer research

A group of George Mason University students in the Management 463 “Negotiations in Organizations” class were able to collect $1,400 dollars for cancer research at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The members, Ben Welicka, Sammy Kassim and Maryann Shih, all senior management majors, were assigned a charity to assist as part of the class and through campaigning organizations and businesses, were able to collect $1,300 from just GMU groups.

The Saudi Student Association, Students against Leukemia and Lymphoma and the Arab Student Association all donated money to the cause, with the Saudi Student Association going a step further and running a kiosk in the Johnson Center this week collecting donations for the charity.

Welicka, Kassim and Shih also were given $100 from a local Best Buy.
