Site earns ACP’s ‘Online Pacemaker’ distinction

The Associated Collegiate Press announced Connect2Mason as the 2011 Online Pacemaker in its category last weekend at a conference in Orlando, judging the site in a national contest that looks holistically at excellence in content, coverage, interactivity and design.

Professional judges from the Center for Investigative Reporting selected 49 finalists out of a record 251 entries for the contest. A total of 24 sites publications received the "Pacemaker" distinction at the ACP / College Media Adviser’s National College Media Convention in Orlando, Fla., on Oct. 29, 2011.

Connect2Mason was the only “Online-only” site to receive the distinction. Other categories included student newspaper and magazines with online components, separated by the size of the student enrollment they serve.

The other finalist in its category was The Daily Gazette at Swathmore College, PA.

This is the second time Connect2Mason has received the Pacemaker distinction. The first time was in 2008, after the site's first full year.

In 2009, the site was named a finalist.
