A new center court scoreboard was installed in the Patriot Center just before last week’s Homecoming game. The new additions give the 20-year-old building a needed face-lift.

“The new scoreboard and signage will greatly enhance game experience,” said Adam Brick, senior associate athletic director. “It will make it easier for fans to keep track of player stats and fouls, and will encourage them to cheer on the Patriots.”

The scoreboard features a brighter, crisper display, making it easier for students and fans to see the score, the clock and player fouls.

“We wanted to install it during the season,” Brick said. “We didn’t want to do it before the season, and last week there was a break in the schedule that allowed the crew to put it up.”

In addition, new LED-signs were placed around the arena and at the scorers table on the court. They display ads for various sponsors of Mason, such as Brion’s Grille, Hard Times Café and Jim McKay Chevrolet.

Brick said new endzone scoreboards will be installed on Feb. 22 and new handrails in the aisles will be added over the summer.

Mason takes on conference rival VCU at the Patriot Center Tuesday, Feb. 14, at 9 p.m.
