Mason Recreation will be hosting the 12th Annual Student/Faculty Golf Classic at the Penderbrook Golf Club on Friday, May 3, starting at 1 p.m.

The event pins students and faculty against each other in an 18-hole golf tournament, bringing instructors and students together for a friendly competition outside the classroom. The tournament is merely an end of the year event to help in the de-stressing process before Finals Week.

“The intent is to get students and faculty out of the classroom together,” said Colby Grant, the coordinator of intramural sports for Mason Recreation. “I interned with Mason Recreation in 2005 and we had around 10 to 12 teams. This year, we have about 20 to 25 teams, so the event has grown ever since.”

Faculty members participating in the event include Mason Dining Resident District Manager Ram Nabar, Associate Director of the Center of Sports Management Craig Esherick, Mason Athletics’ Associate Athletic Director Andy Ruge, Director of Business Development Greg Kennedy, Sgt. Calvin Chandler and his team of Mason police officers, and members of the Mason Recreation staff.

Upon registering and paying the $65 entrance fee, participants are guaranteed lunch, dinner and greens and cart fees. Participants will also receive a $5 pro shop credit and a replay pass which covers the cost of the greens fee on a future trip.

The deadline to register is Monday, April 29 but late registrations may be accepted. To register, contact Colby Grant at Mason Recreation.
