The Mason men's soccer team held off the St. Joseph's Hawks in penalty kicks, 4-2 this afternoon to advance to the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Championships.

Both teams were held scoreless in regulation as Mason's goalkeeper and A10 Rookie of the Year Steffen Kraus finished with five saves while St. Joe's keeper Andrew D'Ottavi saved four shots.

The Hawks and Patriots each capitalized on their first two scoring opportunities in PKs, but Mason was able to beat D'Ottavi for an additional two goals from senior Wes Sever and Timi Mulgrew to seal the victory.

The Patriots will face VCU on Friday at 5 p.m. The A10 Digital Network website is offering a video feed of all matches from the tournament.
