As the final fireworks crackled above the Mason Pond Saturday night, R.J. Hunter emerged from the depths of the Patriot Center. A small cut near his right eye winced as a smile stretched across his youthful, freshman face.

And for good reason.

He had much to be pleased with after scoring 25 points for his Georgia State University Panthers, who spoiled George Mason University's homecoming in a dominating 78-60 win. 

Mason Recreation will be hosting their first "Be My Fit Valentine" event on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. in the Cage Gym of the Recreation and Athletic Complex. 

The event gives couples the opportunity to compete with each other in a series of exercises, including wheelbarrow races, crab walks and other fitness activities.

Entering the season, Delaware was slated to finish second in the Colonial Athletic Association. However, the Blue Hens opened the season against a tough stretch of non-conference opponents that included, Pittsburgh, Temple, Villanova and Duke. In their first 10 games of the season, Delaware managed to win only three games. Since then, the Blue Hens have made a respectable run to place them in the hunt at fifth in the CAA. They travel to Fairfax Saturday Feb. 9 to face the Patriots at 2 p.m. 

The George Mason University men's basketball team maintained their edge on the road against Old Dominion University Monday night, sweeping the Monarchs in the season series with a 85-74 win.
