COLUMN: Better safe than sorry for Nats ace Strasburg

Every time Stephen Strasburg takes the mound, all eyes are entranced by the young righthander's surgically repaired elbow. Every inning pitched pushes the minute hand on his shutdown clock closer and closer to the hour of his inevitable benching. Like Cinderella at the ball, Strasburg's stroke of midnight is coming and coming fast. With only two to three starts left, Strasburg has become the center of attention in all of baseball. But, shutting him down may be one of the noblest decisions Nationals General Manager Mike Rizzo could make.

Baseball's Tison continues hot streak

Baseball season has arrived and Brig Tison is back to work.

Tison batted his way onto the national scene in 2011 when he extended his hitting streak to 27 games, the second longest streak in the country at the time and the all-time George Mason record. At the time of his impressive streak, he also happened to be leading the nation in total hits.

He finished 2011 with 91 total hits, good for fifth all-time in Patriots history, and with a batting average of .368, ranking him in the top-20 in Patriots history for a single season.

'Movember' means mustaches for Mason baseball

Two seniors on the George Mason baseball team have initiated efforts to grow mustaches in order to raise money for men’s health in a program known as Movember. They plan to have their entire team joining them in their fundraising labors.

Baseball wins in walk-off Saturday against VCU, loses the series

On a cold Saturday afternoon at Spuhler Field, the Mason Baseball team rallied back from a 4-0 deficit to win on a walk-off by Blaise Fernandez against the Rams of VCU, winning by a count of 5-4.
