THE X FILES Sequel!!

Fri, 07/25/2008 - 14:00
VERY early post on this one guys... this is to serve as a placeholder, and to give you a heads up that this movies is "out there"... sorry, couldn't resist! http://a.movies.com/i/news/xfilesmovie_big2.jpg The Plot: Plot unknown THE BUZZ: After you're done looking at some from-the-set photos; read what we do know: (1) The story here is not structured to be a direct sequel to the now-ten-years-old original ? it will be a standalone story, and we hear it could be an experiment to see if a one-off model could be used for additional "sequels"; (2) the ever-patient and always-mysterious Chris Carter created hype and deflected rumors for what seems like the better part of the current decade in order to bring all the essential X elements together, mainly the suddenly busy Scully and the I-hate-Vancouver Mulder; (3) the shooting script has been tinkered on for years under the watchful eyes of development executives at Fox; (4) we nominate X Files News as the most bookmarkable fansite for all the daily details tied to the production that will kick start all of your best conspiracy theories ... (End Review) More details to come when we get closer - say in the Spring! Have to poke fun at myself a little here... http://crashingwaves.files.wordpress.com/2007/07/x-files-logo.jpg Brett

Tubing and Steak Day in the Shenandoahs.

Fri, 07/25/2008 - 13:00
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h261/dreamer1978/yac/steakday_poster.jpg This is just the perfect weekend getaway with old and new adventurers alike. Let's get together over tubing, camping, and steak day and enjoy the treasures of the Shenandoah River & Valley often referred to as the "Shenandoah Experience." We're close by Luray Caverns & Shenandoah National Park, too. This will be the 38th year that the Shenandoah outfitters will be celebrating their famous tubing and steak day. I've had friends rave about their Tubing and Steak Day event in the past and have been meaning to do this. Itinerary Come and enjoy a relaxing day of fellowship with friends tubing, swimming and picnicking in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley on the Shenandoah River. The outing begins in the morning on the river which flows between the Blue Ridge and Massanutten Mountains and though the George Washington National Forest. We're going to tube down the Shenandoah River. Once that's done, we'll head back and enjoy the outfitter's specialty of a mouth watering, juicy steak cooked over an open fire, in the outfitter's open-air Pavilion. This is the outfitter's specialty and so many people love coming up here on a Saturday. You have to experience it for yourself! Please note if you are a vegetarian when paying so we can let the outfitters know. Cost. Before July 7th deadline. Option 1 Tubing + Steak Dinner (No Lunch ) + Saturday night camping =$54 Option 1FS Tubing + Steak Dinner (No Lunch) + Friday and Saturday night camping =$63 ***Bring a tubing cooler and we'll share a light lunch*** Vegetarian Options: (Pick one and let me know which) Tuna Steak Garden Burger ***Note that all steak and veggie dinners come with baked potato, corn, salad, and carrot cake. So you'll be quite full :) *** When you need to be there. The tubing starts at 10:00am on Saturday. So leave extra early to get there if you are doing option 1. Otherwise, take up option 1FS and camp Friday night. It'll be cool because we'll engage in some shenanigans amongst other stuff on Friday night?including but not limited to swimming in the river :))) Campsites There are wooded sites that each have a picnic table and fire ring. Most sites are under large Oak trees, with some under pines. The sites are setup for 10 people/site for group camping. A few sites in the pines are perfect for the one or two tent group. (No electricity at sites and no dump facilities) Facilities: There are restrooms, hot water showers, firewood for sale, a small camp store and pay phone where canoeing, kayaking, rafting and tubing rentals are available. Capacity I have capacity limited at 13 for now. Can and will increase more if we have healthy demand. Directions will be sent out and finalized soon. Things to bring? Water shoes or sandals for tubing. They don't allow barefeet. Mosquito and insect repellent Cooler Tuber Typical camping food, etc? Grill, flashlight Refund Policy and Payments Deadline This is non-refundable. If you can't come, try to find someone who can replace you. Payment must be made by July 7th. Prices increases by $7 for both option 1 ($61)and option 1FS($70) after this date and is maxed out once we fill capacity. Carpooling options Please list if you can drive or wish to be driven and from where. Please list that in the comments box on the left hand side where it says, "talk about this meeting." Don't list it in the RSVP section as it'll be hard for people to respond to. As a courtesy, we only ask that you pay the driver a few dollars for gas money due rising gas prices nowadays, but we always leave that up to the drivers.

It'll be cool because we'll engage in some shenanigans amongst other stuff on Friday night...including but not limited to swimming in the river :))) Campsites: There are wooded sites that each have a picnic table and fire ring. Mosquito and insect repellent Cooler Tuber Typical camping food, etc... Alright- Dave and I have taken that Friday, the 25th off. We are going to leave in the morning and will probably be staying at the Doyle Hotel. If you are able to get the day off and want to ride with us, just let me know. Otherwise, we can stay in touch via cell phone and meetup once everyone gets there. Becca 571 238 3793
