Formerly known as Apathy, Volition Magazine is George Mason’s Literary and Arts Journal  packed into a small magazine with a big message: “Express yourself!”

Terra Secundum: Environmental engagement through the arts

For the first time in George Mason University’s history, The Office of Sustainability, in collaboration with Northern Virginia Community College,  showcased student’s unique artwork, musical scores and spoken word centered on themes of sustainability and ecology.

The event took place on Monday, April 22 to kick off Mason’s Earth Week.

Terra Secundum, which translates to "second earth,” invites the Mason community to learn more about the importance of sustainability, applicable not only to our generation, but to the next.

"Hair|Heir" art thesis focuses on the power of memory

Running from Monday, March 25 until March 29, George Mason University’s School of Art will be showcasing Stephanie Booth’s thesis exhibition, “Hair|Heir” in the Fine Arts Building’s first floor gallery. The exhibit focuses on Booth’s unique blend of mixed media within mediums of photography, video, and fiber art.

Currently a graduate lecturer at Mason and an adjunct professor at Northern Virginia Community College, Booth has spent over two years on her project.

Exhibit showcases student photography

Running from now until the end of March, George Mason University’s School of Art will be showcasing works by student photographers in the Johnson Center, Gallery 123. The exhibit is a final portfolio of the AVT 353 course under the instruction of Professor Peggy Feerick.  The gallery highlights eight students’ unique pieces covering a variety of different themes and subject matters.

New Mosaic District offers something unique for everyone

A new shopping and dining area has recently opened. Approximately 20 minutes from George Mason University’s Fairfax campus, the Mosaic District offers something for everyone.

Located off of Lee Highway and Gallows Road, the Mosaic District was built over abandoned land. Previously looking like a resting site for broken dumpsters, the area now boasts hip stores, restaurants and a high-tech movie theater.

"In Unison" showcases work of 20 D.C.-based artists

On Wednesday Feb. 6,  George Mason University’s Mason Hall Atrium Gallery buzzed with excitement as artists, art students and art aficionados visited the opening reception for the final exhibition of the art series "In Unison" that featured work by 20 Washington, D.C.-based artists.
