Dance students showcase their own creativity

For a dance choreographer, inspiration is the key ingredient for evey performance. Whether the inspiration comes from the music or the movement, it evolves into a complete piece that becomes a story.

Seniors Tikiri Shapiro and Janine Baumgardner, along with other juniors and seniors in Mason’s School of Dance, were given the opportunity to choreograph original pieces to be performed in the May Dance Concert  on Friday, May 3 at 8 p.m. and on Saturday, May 4 at 8 p.m. in Harris Theater.

Exhibit showcases student photography

Running from now until the end of March, George Mason University’s School of Art will be showcasing works by student photographers in the Johnson Center, Gallery 123. The exhibit is a final portfolio of the AVT 353 course under the instruction of Professor Peggy Feerick.  The gallery highlights eight students’ unique pieces covering a variety of different themes and subject matters.

Arts by George! provides an evening like no other

In its seventh year, Mason’s annual Arts by George! event was held on September 29 in the Center for Performing Arts, the Delaski Performing Arts Building, Harris Theater, as well as outside by the Mason statue. The event involved students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the outside community.

Brian Marcus, associate dean of development for the College of Visual and Performing Arts, said that “the whole idea [of the event] is to bring the arts at Mason into the community to support students in school.”
