Men's volleyball unable to top nemesis Penn State in five-set thriller

After celebrating a tough, five-set win against St. Francis on Friday night (25-19, 22-25, 25-12, 17-25, 16-14), feelings were different for the George Mason men’s volleyball team on Saturday. The Patriots completed its weekend home series with a loss against No. 13-ranked archrival Penn State Nittany Lions in just of a dramatic match at the RAC gym – 23-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-27, 10-15.

Mason men's volleyball opens EIVA play with a 3-1 win against nemesis Princeton

 

The George Mason University Patriots men's volleyball team opened up their Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association season with a 3–1 win against the Princeton Tigers at home. The Patriots came out fighting in the first half, winning the first set 25-21, and they wouldn't look back from there.

Men's volleyball falls to Princeton on senior night

The sound of applause echoed off the gym walls. Whistles rang through the crowd. The RAC gym erupted in standing ovation for one man. All eyes were fixated on the George Mason men’s volleyball senior leader and captain, Joe Norton as he celebrated his last home game in green and gold.

However, all of the festivities were an afterthought as the Patriots (12-16, 7-6 EIVA) fell to their Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association rivals, Princeton, 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.

Men's Volleyball suffers first conference loss against Penn St.

The George Mason Men’s Volleyball team fell for the first time in Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) play, losing to nationally ranked Penn State, 3-0, at the RAC Saturday night.

The Patriots were coming off a win Friday night against Rutgers-Newark, but Penn State showed why they are the No. 11 team in the nation, as they won each set by scores of 25-19, 25-19 and 25-20. The entire match was competitive, but Penn State would jump out to a lead and not yield it, despite the Patriots’ valiant attempts.

Men's Volleyball sweeps Rutgers-Newark

The George Mason Men’s Volleyball team was torrid Friday night with a swift 3-0 sweep of Rutgers-Newark at the RAC. The final scores of each set were 25-20, 25-23 and 25-21 respectively.

The Patriots improve their record to 11-3 overall, and 6-0 in the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA). Rutgers-Newark fell to 10-3 overall, and 3-3 in the conference.
