Wright's season-high 23 points leads the Patriots to 74-63 home win against UMBC

Sherrod Wright had not had a dunk all season before last night’s game against the University of Maryland-Baltimore County.

With the ball on the right wing, Wright saw an open lane to the basket and he took it. As he broke baseline, UMBC forward Brett Roseboro slid over to help and Wright took flight. With authority, the junior guard slammed home a thunderous dunk on the 6’10” Roseboro while drawing the foul.

The University of Maryland-Baltimore Retrievers have had a tough go in their first seven games of the season, starting at 2-5. With one of the worst RPI in all of Division-I men’s basketball, UMBC will be overmatched by George Mason, the second-highest ranked RPI team they will face this year. The Retrievers take on the Patriots at the Patriot Center tonight at 7 p.m. However, here are some of the players to pay attention to from the Retrievers.

Women's Volleyball wins in home opener versus UMBC

The women’s volleyball team did not disappoint in their home opener Tuesday night, facing the University of Maryland Baltimore County Retrievers (2-3) at the RAC in front a supportive home crowd. The match was a nail-biter and had tilted in a not-so-desirable direction at one point, but at the end Mason defeated the Retrievers 3-2 (25-22, 17-25, 18-25, 25-22, 15-11).
