The Honors College is now offering course credit for select study abroad opportunities. As of now, one course has been approved by the Honors College and they are expected to approve more courses later in the semester.

The first course to gain approval in the initiative is London Theatre Tour: British Theatre Today winter break trip, which counts towards the HNRS 122: Reading the Arts credit.

“The Honors College is very excited to work with the Center for Global Education. I think that it’s a great opportunity and a wonderful experience,” said Heather Anderson, the Academic Affairs Coordinator in the Honors College.

Anderson also mentioned that there will be Honors student study abroad scholarships available online in the upcoming weeks.

If only the opportunity had come a bit sooner for some students such as senior, D'juan Thomas, who is in the Sociology Honors Program. "I would love to go to London, but since I'm a senior I don't need the Honors course credits that are being offered in the London program,” said Thomas, who is still interested in participating in a CGE study abroad program, possibly in Greece.

For those interested, the deadline is approaching fast. In order to study abroad in London this upcoming winter, students must apply online by October 8, 2010.

Check out the Honors College Curriculum website for further information. As courses are approved, they will be posted on the study abroad section of the Curriculum web site.

Questions about the program should be directed to Heather Anderson in the Honors College or Sarah Mourninghan at the Center for Global Education.
