On Friday, Sept. 2, College Colors Day comes to Mason. The event is intended to encourage students, faculty/staff, and alumni to represent Mason by wearing their green and gold garb throughout the day.

Nationally organized by the university’s partner, The Collegiate Licensing Company, College Colors Day celebrates college traditions and back-to-school excitement, as well as promotes higher education and acknowledges the accomplishments of colleges and universities.

Since its launch in 2005, College Colors Day has encouraged millions of Americans across the country to show appreciation for their favorite college by donning its colors.

As part of the festivities a group picture will be taken at noon by the George Mason Statue on the Fairfax campus. The photo will be used to produce the first “We Are Mason” postcard. All celebrants are invited to participate.

College Colors day will also act as the commencement to Spirit Fridays at Mason. Each week on Fridays, students, faculty/staff, and alumni, will have the chance to show their Patriot Pride by wearing GMU apparel.

David Atkins, Mason Alumnus and Director of Contract Management and Licensing, hopes that Spirit Fridays will produce “a unified campus and promote the university positively though its brand and colors”.
