Weekly Rundown: 5 events for your week

No time to look through Today @ Mason or sift through Facebook event invitations? We've got you covered. Here are some events for the week to consider placing on your Google Calendar or iCal. (Or your traditional paper planner).

Tuesday, March 27
Academic Advising Expo

What it is: Student Government is hosting the fourth annual academic advising expo this week, where advisors from all academic departments will be available to answer student questions and give out any advising they might need.

Why it’s our pick: This is a busy time of year for advisors and sometimes it can be hard to fit that all-important meeting into your schedule.  Here’s your chance to sit down with an advisor, no strings attached.  Oh, and did we mention that by meeting with your academic department at the expo you can enter to win a free one-semester parking permit or a fast pass to skip the lines at the upcoming Mason Day?

Where: Johnson Center Dewberry Hall, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Tuesday, March 27
Dialog and Difference Discussion: Reproductive Rights

What it is: Hosted by the School of Conflict Analysis and Resolution (SCAR), this discussion will cover the contentious and topical issue of reproductive rights through the sharing of viewpoints and an exploration of the political impact of the issue.

Why it’s our pick: According to SCAR’s website, this should be a chance to “wade into the deep waters of ethics and rights in real time,” and be an opportunity for some real thought provoking discussion on a controversial topic.

Where: The Hub rooms 3 & 4, 7 – 9 p.m.

Wednesday, March 28
Academic Skills Workshop: Exam Strategies

What it is: Counseling and Psychological Services is holding this workshop to help students be prepared and “test-wise” for their next exam.

Why it’s our pick: Finals aren’t too far off!  Get your study strategies in order ahead of time to make sure you’re prepared when it counts.

Where: SUB I room 3129, 6 – 7:15 p.m.

Wednesday, March 28
Student Government Election Debate

What it is: Here’s your opportunity to meet the candidates for Student Senate and Student Body President and Vice President before the elections occur.  Learn more about their platforms and why they deserve to represent the student body.  Executive candidates will be participating in a question and answer session.

Why it’s our pick: Don’t go to the polls uninformed!  This is your chance to get acquainted with the candidates and their platforms before election day.  These individuals will be the future representatives of the Mason student body--make sure they know your opinion matters.  C2M will be livestreaming the debate for those unable to attend.

Where: Johnson Center Atrium, 6 – 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, March 31
