With the impending departure of Dr. Peter Stearns, who will step down to join the history department, the search is underway for a new provost. The Provost Search Committee has narrowed the search down to four candidates, each of whom will give a presentation to Mason faculty, staff, and students before the final decision is made.

UPDATE: Tank explosion near Prince William Campus

A hydrogen tank exploded around 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 23 in Manassas, Virginia, minutes from Mason's Prince William Campus. According to InsideNoVa.com, one person was injured and their condition is unknown.

The tank exploded at 9441 Innovation Drive, a building that belongs to Ultron, a defense company that builds weapon launchers for the military.

Fall for the Blog

Fourth Estate follows upcoming Fall for the Book Festival with "Fall for the Blog."

Fall for the Book is a yearly tradition at Mason. With fourteen years securely under its belt, several events are planned with multiple famous speakers including Ralph Nader and David Baldacci.
