During my senior year of high school, I was required to write a research paper on the topic of my choice. I chose a subject regarding the expression of feminism in America. I focused on situations in which women took over a more masculine role than was traditional, such as in the popular musical “Chicago,” where the women murder their significant others. As I reflect on that paper, I realize that I do not agree with my previous viewpoint on what constituted feminism. Being a feminist is not synonymous with acting like a man.

Mason Recreation will be hosting the 12th Annual Student/Faculty Golf Classic at the Penderbrook Golf Club on Friday, May 3, starting at 1 p.m.

The event pins students and faculty against each other in an 18-hole golf tournament, bringing instructors and students together for a friendly competition outside the classroom. The tournament is merely an end of the year event to help in the de-stressing process before Finals Week.

On April 26, Ángel Cabrera was inaugurated as George Mason University's sixth president. The public event was held in the Patriot Center, where the audience heard from members of the board of visitors, state officials, student leaders, and Cabrera. With roots in New York, musician Andy Grammer has worked hard to get to where he is today. Having performed on the streets of California before "making it big," Grammer is both humble and aware of the luck of his success. With hits such as "Keep Your Head Up," "Fine By Me" and "Miss Me," Grammer is the musician who will be performing at this year's annual Mason Day concert.
