Audio: Interview with Mason Day peformer Andy Grammer

With roots in New York, musician Andy Grammer has worked hard to get to where he is today. Having performed on the streets of California before "making it big," Grammer is both humble and aware of the luck of his success. With hits such as "Keep Your Head Up," "Fine By Me" and "Miss Me," Grammer is the musician who will be performing at this year's annual Mason Day concert.

Currently on tour and working on a new album, Grammer spoke with Connect2Mason's Entertainment editor, Helena Okolicsanyi, in a phone interview about his chidlhood, musical influences, and his start in music.

Connect2Mason: Everyone has a story. How did you get started with music? What's your story?

C2M: Your parents were both musicians. What music did you listen to growing up? How has their music making process influenced yours?

C2M: You moved from the music scene of New York state to that of California. What was that experience like for you?

C2M: What was the "big" moment for you?

C2M: It's a bit cliche to ask, but what is your writing process like as a musician?

C2M: What inspires you to write music? What are you wanting to write about?

C2M: You're coming to George Mason University as part of Mason Day. What do you do differently when you perform at a college campus?

C2M: Do you plan on checking out other parts of campus while you're here?

C2M: From C2M reporter, Nicole Lewis, what was the first album you owned and what music are you currently listening to?

Grammer will be performing at Mason's annual Mason Day on Friday, April 26 at 7 p.m.
