Welcome to Mason, Class of 2017! Here's some words of advice.

College is a confusing, exciting, tiring, frustrating and magical time in your life. To help navitage the wonderful world of Mason, here are some words of wisdom.

Mason road decals to be added to major Fairfax intersections, university entrances

As students return to George Mason University for the fall semester, they may see a difference driving through Old Town Fairfax.  

By August 9, five Mason logos will be painted at major intersections throughout the city as drivers approach the university. The green and gold road decals read “We Are Mason,” and were planned in collaboration between Mason and the City of Fairfax.

LIVE BLOG: Mason forum on Trayvon Martin case

The Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Multicultural Eduction hosts a discussion on the verdict in the George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin case. Connect2Mason will be bringing you live coverage of the forum. Coverage begins at 3:00 p.m. 

According to a flyer released by ODIME, the discussion is meant to allow members of the Mason community a chance to express thoughts and feelings about the case, its outcome, and what to learn as members of a diverse community.

Connect2Mason.com is currently accepting applications for a variety of positions for the Fall 2013 semester. Connect2Mason’s position in an ever-changing world of news and entertainment makes it the ideal place to work for students interested in pursuing careers in journalism or communication. By working at C2M, students will learn to work with others, will develop and fine-tune their written and verbal communication skills and will gain experience working in an exciting, deadline- and detail-oriented environment.  

Three new members appointed to Mason Board of Visitors

On July 12, Governor Bob McDonnell announced three new appointments and one reappointment to George Mason University's Board of Visitors.

Kelly McNamara Corley, Tom Davis, and Anne C. Gruner will join the 16-member board. John M. Jacquemin has been reappointed. 

Mason's Board of Visitors is the governing body of the unversity. All members are appointed by the governor and serve four-year terms.

Virginia gubernatorial candidates discuss higher ed issues with students

This year’s gubernatorial candidates took the opportunity to speak with student leaders from across Virginia about higher education issues.

On July 11, candidates spoke with a handful of students in a Google Hangout hosted by Virginia21, a non-profit lobbying group that focuses on higher education issues. The organization’s mission statement is “to educate the leaders of tomorrow by showing them how to make a difference today.”
