Mason men's volleyball falls to Ball State, 3-0

The Mason men’s volleyball team lost 3-0 sets to Ball State University on Friday night at the Recreation and Athletic Center in Fairfax, Va.

Mason (4-3) had a hard time dealing with the No. 15 Cardinals’ balanced offense and defense throughout the match and committed multiple serve and attacking errors that cost them losing the individual sets 25-18, 25-18, and 25-20.

Mason men’s basketball fell to Dayton on Wednesday night, 84-67.

Jordan Sibert led all scorers with 19, as the Flyers shot 54.9 percent from the floor on 28-51 shooting. Sherrod Wright led the Patriots with 18 points, followed by Bryon Allen with 16 and Corey Edwards with 10. Mason shot 40.0 percent on 18-45 shooting, but won the rebounding battle 30-28 in the game.

The Mason men’s volleyball team defeated the University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras 3-0 sets on Saturday at the Recreation and Athletic Complex in Fairfax, Va.

Mason (4-2) took the individual sets 25-18, 25-21, 25-19 and repeated Thursday night’s straight-set win against the Gallitos (2-2).

Mason men's volleyball cruises to straight set victory in home opener

On Thursday, the Mason men’s volleyball team hosted the University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras for their 2014 home opener.

The University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras received the opening point of the first set on a back-and-forth volley that mustered a subsequent audible cheer from a large contingent of University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras fans that made the trip to Fairfax. The rest of the game, however, was dominated by Mason as they took the match by a final score of 3-0.
