Drake concert cancelled, refunds to be issued by Patriot Center beginning this week

The scheduled fall concert performance by Drake, set for November, has been cancelled by the artist. Students will be able to obtain a refund for purchased tickets from the Patriot Center this week (chickswithguns).

The Program Board announced Friday the scheduled fall concert featuring Drake has been canceled.

Monday, the process for obtaining a refund for purchased tickets was shared with the Mason community.

All refunds will be issued by the Patriot Center box office, including discounted tickets purchased Oct. 7 at the Office of Student Involvement, according to an email statement sent to C2M.

Students wishing to obtain a refund must have their purchased tickets in their possession, along with their student ID. Refunds must be made in person at the box office.

“Refunds will be given at the Patriot Center Box office during regular operating hours beginning Oct. 19 and continuing only until Nov. 17,” wrote Program Board Vice President Addison Brown in the email.

The statement was also posted to the Program Board Facebook page.

According to a news release on the Patriot Center website, the performance was cancelled by Drake due to scheduling conflicts.

Drake has cancelled November tour dates in other states including Ohio, North Carolina and South Carolina.

News of the show cancellation came less than a week after the Office of Student Involvement held a discounted ticket sale on Friday, Oct. 7.

The Office of Student Involvement said there will be no concert this fall but they are hopeful a concert will be scheduled for next semester.

“The cancellation of this show by Drake is just as disappointing to us as it is to those who wanted to go to the show. We are hoping to be able to bring another concert next semester,” wrote Brown.

Brown did say there has been some talk that Drake will be looking to reschedule at least some of his cancelled tour dates but, for now, the focus for Office of Student Involvement is moving forward and looking at performances for next semester.
