DoubleX, a Slate podcast focusing on topics related to gender, feminism and sexuality is broadcasting a live show from George Mason University’s Arlington campus Sept. 18 at 7 p.m.

The event is hosted by the Center for Gender and Conflict, a research and practice center that focuses attention on gender in peace-building and post-conflict reconstruction efforts both domestically and internationally.

Hanna Rosin and Dan Kois of Slate and Noreen Malone of the New Republic will host the show from the Founders Hall auditorium.

The conversation will focus on gender-related topics like sexual assault in the military and reaction to Pax Dickinson, an executive at a magazine who was recently fired for tweets mocking women, gays, African-Americans and others.

The center came up with the idea to invite Slate to campus after community support and feedback from a forum discussion on gender.

“Everyone told us how great it was to have a space to talk about issues of gender and concepts relevant in their life,” said Elizabeth Mount, Executive Director of the Center for the Study of Gender and Conflict. “It was a great opportunity for young professional women to deal with challenges.”

The live podcast will not be interactive, but there will be an opportunity for a Q&A session after the show.

Tickets are still available for the event and the pre-show cocktail. The event runs from 7 – 8:30 p.m. at Founders Hall auditorium on the Arlington campus.
