Connect2Mason’s Top 5 are our staff's picks for the week's best academic and learning events. Every Monday, C2M will post a new Top 5 which will highlight some of the most interesting, informational and creative academic events going on at campus this week.

Monday

The Intersection: Where College and Careers Meet

WHAT: A panel of Mason graduates speaking about what to expect when graduating from college. There will also be a chance for students to participate in an interview etiquette session and a chance to get your resume looked over by members of Career Services.

WHEN: 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

WHERE: Student Union Building II, Front Ballroom

Tuesday

Revealing Feminist and Queer Art Show

WHAT: Annual exhibition featuring the work of students, faculty and staff addressing feminist and queer themes of gender, sex, sexuality and other aspects of identity and culture.

WHEN: Exhibit runs from March 7 through March 25.

WHERE: Johnson Center, 123 Gallery

COST: Free

Wednesday

Budget Forum presented by Provost and Senior Vice President

WHAT: Provost Stearns and Senior Vice President Scherrens will give an update on the current budget situation at Mason. Students and faculty will have a chance to ask questions to the presenters about financial issues and the budget. This year’s budget includes an increase of 6.1% for in-state undergraduate students including tuition, fees and room and board.

WHEN: 9:30 a.m.

WHERE: Johnson Center Cinema

Funds are Fried Day (Update: This event has been moved to Wed. March 8)

WHAT: Typically around March 10 (or 57% of the school year) is when all the tuition money paid by students is used up. After the tuition money is used up, state funding and private philanthropy money is used to funds student’s education. Funds are Fried Day will provide information on how funding for students works. Any donations by students can be used anywhere at the university.

WHEN: 10:30 - 2:30 p.m.

WHERE: Johnson Center, North Plaza, Clocktower

COST: Optional donation. Funnel cakes and free music performances will be provided.

Friday

Persian Club New Years Performance

WHAT: The Mason Persian club will be celebrating the Norooz (Persian New Year) 1390 with the annual Norooz show filled with music, dancing and singing. There will be a guest performance by Max Amini.

WHEN: 7:30 p.m.

WHERE: Center for the Arts, Concert Hall

COST: $10
