Top 5 weekend picks April 25

Every week Connect2Mason will offer five entertainment picks for your weekend. Ranging from on-campus to off-campus events, Connect2Mason's Top 5 will give you a jump start on your weekend. Here are the Top 5 picks for this weekend:

Mason Opera brings you Mozart’s final opera “The Magic Flute.” Take the journey with Price Tamino to find truth and love. On his way there, he’ll encounter several interesting characters including the Queen of the Night and Papageno, the bird catcher. Whether you come for the splendid music or for the eclectic costumes, this opera will be sure to entertain you!

2. The Acting Company: Of Mice and Men

When: April 28 at 4:00 p.m.

Where: Concert Hall

The Acting Company brings its prestige to Mason as it takes the stage in the production of “Of Mice and Men.” The company brings Pulitzer Prize-winning author John Steinbeck’s tragic novel to life following the tale of George and Lennie as they work together to earn enough money for their own farm. A classic in my book, “Of Mice and Men” is sure to be deeply moving in play form as it explores the themes of friendship, loneliness and despair. Watch a demo of some of The Acting Company’s best work and see for yourself what they’ll be bringing to Mason.

3. Laugh Riot!

When: April 27 at 10:00 p.m.

Have you ever wanted to participate in a stand-up comedy show? Well, now is your chance as the “Laugh Riot!" creates a space for everyone to tell their funniest jokes on stage. There are even prizes for the funniest of the lot! So come in for a laugh as you’ll surely not regret it!
