Monday is Columbus Day and there are some changes you should know about. (Bree/Bailey/Creative Commons

Monday is Columbus Day, which means there are changes to classes, bus schedules and dining hours of operation. Here’s a roundup of Columbus Day changes you need to know about:

Classes

Classes will not be held Monday. Instead, Monday classes will meet Tuesday, and Tuesday classes will not meet this week.

Dining

Many dining locations on campus will have amended hours of operation this weekend.

Southside will be open for normal weekend hours Saturday through Monday from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Ike’s will be open for normal hours all weekend from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Pilot House will also be open for normal hours all weekend from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, and 5 p.m. to 4 a.m. Monday.

Starbucks will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and from 10 a.m. to 24-hours on Monday.

Mason Shuttles

The campus shuttles will operate on normal weekend schedules on Saturday and Sunday. The following operation schedule applies for Monday:

Fairfax/PW Shuttle -- normal schedule with last departure at 7:20 p.m.
Mason to Metro Shuttle -- normal schedule, but no 15 and 45 minutes after the hour departures
Gunston Go Bus -- normal schedule
West Campus Express -- normal schedule
Campus Circulator -- no service Monday

CUE Bus

The CUE Bus System will operate on a normal schedule Monday.

Metro

Metro will close the Farragut West and McPherson Square Metrorail stations on the Blue and Orange lines from 10 p.m. tonight through closing Monday.

There will be no service through these stations during the closure as maintenance crews work to replace track switches and make other safety improvements. Metro says customers should add 40 minutes to their travel plans this weekend to transfer to a free shuttle bus in order to bypass the station closures.

Metro expects full service to resume when the system opens at 5 a.m. Tuesday.
