Mason Madness rocks the Patriot Center


New men's head coach Paul Hewitt appeared from the tunnel during Friday night's Mason Madness celebration sporting an identical outfit to Doc Nix. It was opening night for both the men's and the women's squads, but basketball was just one part of the night's entertainment. (John Powell).

Women Patriots fall in first round of CAA Championship to Georgia State

The George Mason Women Patriots (13-17) were defeated by the Georgia State Bulldogs (12-18) by a final score of 68-64 at Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Md. Thursday afternoon in the opening round of the CAA Tournament.

It was the typical high energy matchup of an eight and nine seed with the victory coming down to the wire.

Mason, 2-0 all time when playing as the number eight seed prior to the game, looked to senior leadership for assistance.

Women Patriots prevail on senior night, 77-55

Women Patriots' comeback thwarted by Towson, fall 59-53

The George Mason Women’s Basketball team (12-14, 6-9) fell to Towson (9-17, 3-12) 59-53 Sunday afternoon at the Patriot Center. Towson has now won seven straight against the Patriots dating back to the 2006-07 season.

Both teams struggled to open the game, as only 15 combined points were scored nearly halfway through the first half.

Women's hoops defeats Delaware, 67-56

The Mason Women Patriots (12-13, CAA 6-8) swept the regular season series with the Delaware Blue Hens (15-10, 8-6), winning 67-56 Thursday night in the Patriot Center.

Women's Basketball defeats Davis and Elkins, 85-36

The George Mason Women’s Basketball team defeated the Davis and Elkins Senators, 85-36, in an exhibition match at the Patriot Center Monday night. The Patriots showcased several rotations of players in the process, alternating three main lineups over the course of the game.
