The George Mason University men’s soccer team extended their win streak to three-straight games Friday night, defeating the University of Denver, 4-1.

The Patriots took a commanding 4-0 lead by the end of the first half. Mason controlled field position for much of the game, but it took a sliding Jannik Eckenrode to break the deadlock with 31 minutes left in the first half.  That goal, off an assist from Hugh Roberts opened the flood gates for the attacking Patriots.  Wes Sever scored from way out on a tremendous shot with 29 minutes left in the half.  Sever's touch pass led to an second goal for Eckenrode shortly after.  The fourth goal came, late in the first half, off the foot of Sever after a great pass from Julio Arjona.

The Patriot defense was formidable throughout barely allowing the Denver offense to setup across midfield. Roberts and fellow senior Alex Herrera turned away a majority of Denver's offensive advances, which were few and far between.

Mason faces Binghamton University on Sunday at 7 p.m. at Mason Stadium. Here's our postgame interview with Mason coach Greg Andrulis:
