OPINION: The transition from Recreation to University Life for club sports brings forth unexpected challenges

Out of a student population of over thirty thousand, Mason has about 500 NCAA varsity athletes. While, as a community, we should be very proud of these athletes’ many achievements, there are hundreds of club athletes—outnumbering varsity athletes—who also contribute to the successes of Mason in athletic endeavors. Mason Club Football has won the Seaboard Conference Championship five times, 2000, 2001 and then defended the honor three consecutive times from 2003 to 2005.

Club football games to be broadcast live on Mason Cable Network

The Mason Cable Network in collaboration with Connect2Mason will begin broadcasting home club football games in their entirety, beginning with this Saturday's home opener against Onondaga College at 2 p.m. This will mark the first time in George Mason University's history that a student media outlet will broadcast a televised club sport game.

Cabrera 'all for' football, if able to pay

Mason currently has a club football team, but last week during a meet-and-greet with the Faculty Senate, incoming president Angel Cabrera left at least some room for more.
