UPDATE: Ten new SG Senators elected Wednesday evening

Ballots for the Student Government Senate fall election went out Monday to students by e-mail and according to the Chairman of the Elections and Dispute Commission, turnout has been high so far.

The election is for 10 new senate positions in Student Government. The candidates are all either freshman or transfer students.

Voting opened online Monday and will end at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Student Government’s monthly What Do You Want Wednesdays event kicked off this week with a free cookie giveaway near North Plaza on Wednesday afternoon. Students were given the snack after leaving suggestions with SG members.

C2M Introduces Student Government at Mason

Students having aspirations of one day running for public office may view Student Government (SG) as a way to jump start their political careers. One thing that is often overlooked by students is how large of a time commitment student government requires. According to SG officials, it’s more than just a title, it’s a full time job that must be performed to serve over 32,000 students.

 

Mason to hold prom

George Mason University will hold its first formal dance on April 16 and is describing the event as a college prom. The prom will take place at the Mason Inn and will run from 7 – 11 p.m.

Free tickets were available at the Student Government office. An email was sent to students on April 13.

The event’s Facebook page invited students to “relive” their high school proms or “create another night of amazing memories.”

Bowers, Yoo elected Student Government presidency, vice-presidency

The George Mason Student Government Elections and Disputes Commission announced that Allyson Bowers has won the position of Student Body President. Her runningmate, Jacky Yoo, will be the Vice President.

Philanthropy brings together Greek life and Student Government

Members of Student Government and the Kappa Sigma Fraternity held a fundraiser at the Rathskeller on Mason’s Fairfax campus Wednesday evening where 15 percent of proceeds were donated to the Fisher House Foundation.
